Cake

by Jacquie   Aug 2, 2008

Confession?
I'm mendacious, to a certain extent.
Given, I've crossed my lines a few times.
Calm yourself,
There's no reason to get excited.
I'm merely a creature of my years.
Did you really expect anything more?
Sorry, there I go again,
spinning my tales as if I hadn't lead you to believe something different.
I'm ordering beers, how would you know?
Such an obvious misconception.
Weird, I was taught
I couldn't have my cake and eat it, too.
But here I stand with two cakes in my hand.
Guess I beat the system- again.
I think, with a roll of the eyes.
Jesus Christ!
Where are the challenges around here?
Why is it so easy for children to make you think.
I guess they dare to ask those questions, huh?
the Who, what, when, where, and why's.
Ya know, the ones that you whisper in the shadows
but don't dare shout from the rooftops.
WELCOME TO AMERICA, LADIES AND GENTS!!!
to the land of the superficial
and home of the fakes
Where celebrity news is front page at your local paper,
and all that corruption, spreading like an infectious disease?
Well, you better look to the fine print
