The Yellow Rose

by Steven Valentine   Aug 5, 2008

November 23rd for a young man was born
for this was the day of a major storm
for this man still stands today at 21years of age
walking through life lonely and cold
for there finally came a day
where this young mans soul
would be inflicted more suffering
then most untold
although confused at times
lost not knowing which way he'd turned
searching for his freedom
and for the truth he'd yearned
regretful for his past
and for bridges he'd burned
also searching for wisdom
but ignoring the words
of those who have traveled the road before him
blinded by curves
hoping for joy
like a dying man hoping for a cure
waiting for relief
like a sinful man waiting for his heart to become pure
the young man was once told
that a man wasn't a man
until he could hold his head up high
learn to smile when he was down
and when up not be ashamed to cry
for the young man was overpowered by lust
love with no glare it was a crystal stare
and for no one he'd trust
hoping one day
she'd find her way back home
like a child lost in the rain
hoping he'd no longer be alone
searching for a womans heart
in hopes to carry on
for the young man kneels on bended knee
reaching out like she's someone he'd cry for
then sitting back in deep thought
like a lonely daughter he'd die for
for there finally came a day
where the young mans spirit
could sore through the beautiful sky
with no fears like an eagle over the ocean
but yet he still wonders why
for the young mans heart
was finally filled up with warmth
and shall no longer remain cold
for this was the day that I, myself
has finally found my yellow rose
