The Vinyl Rain Jacket

by Avrii Monrielle   Aug 7, 2008

I spent my dollar and thirty-two cents on
A vinyl rain jacket, purchased by yours truly.

Rummaged through the bins within
The nearest thrift store
Couldn't find the best or worst
California. Overpriced.

Stepped with my cheap
Shoes that no ten-year old should wear.
Touched the banister
Of a rickety staircase.

Held on tight as I ran to the second floor
Breathing in silk dresses and satin bows.
Spun around within this treasure chest,
Hour by hour, I explored.

I found it! A luxurious gown
Fit for the princess I wanted to be.
As I scrambled towards it, I clamored to the floor.
My pumps ripped a vinyl rain jacket.

I spent my dollar and thirty-two cents on
A vinyl rain jacket, purchased by yours truly.
