True Love

by Cassidy   Aug 8, 2008

She sees him in her future
She sees him in her dreams
Loving him is the right thing
At least, to her, that's what it seems.

Her every day explanation,
He's more than meets the eye.
But he doesn't feel the same way about her
She wish she understood why.

Her friends promise she'll find someone better
She just doesn't take their word
She repeatedly says I love him
As if she isn't heard.

They all know it's true
But what they don't know is what she hides
Her broken heart, her bitter tears
And get over him coming from all sides.

She knows what she's doing
She's prepared for everything heading her way
She'll love him forever
Not even going without loving him for a day.

As a slow full year passes
Her heart continues to break
As their senior prom is about to arrive
Where guys ask whoever they want to take.

Later that day in her locker
She finds a single note
It's written in beautiful cursive
Laying under her coat.

I've loved you since the day we met
It's time to take a chance
I kept it hidden ever since
So now, may I take you to the dance?

Her heart slows to a stop
She nearly falls to the floor
She always knew it would be worth it
Because he is what she needed more.

He picks her up in his best dressed
They go out to have a blast
Her mind can't catch up to her heart
Because it's beating too fast.

The love they had grew stronger
Spending every second together they could
He started to plan something big
She never imagined he would.

He takes her to a nearby beach
She never thought she'd see
And in the midst of a sunset
He gets down on one knee.

He pulls out the most beautiful ring
He takes her left hand as she begins to cry
He chokes out, "Will you marry me?"
She feels like she's going to die.

She says yes of coarse
Her lifetime dream comes true
"I love you," he whispers in her ear
She says, "I love you too."
