Behind Her Smile

by Cassidy   Jun 7, 2008

That girl all alone
That girl that you see
That girl who is lost
That girl is me.

Never knowing what to expect
She just sits, hopes, and prays
But once she gets home
On her bed she lays.

Stays up in her room
With the music blasting
Thinking about her life
Wondering how much longer she'll be lasting.

Nobody knows or cares
About her broken heart
Or about the tears she cries
Or when she falls apart

Writing stories, songs, and poems
To express how she feels
Even though she's the only to read them
She still hopes everything heals

There's nothing she can really do
To deal with all this pain inside
She doesn't know how it got there
There's no one in which she can confide

So she picks up the sharp razor
And takes it to her arm
The blood drips down her skin
As she knows she's causing harm

She doesn't want to live that way
But doesn't know how to quit
She tries really hard
It slows down a bit

Eventually she stops
But her arm looks like a mess
Now she just hides her pain
Behind her smile and her dress
