My Guardian Angel

by Danielle   Aug 8, 2008

We're sitting here in the hospital
Twelve hours or more a day,
Surrounded by friends and family
hoping you'll go in peace and that you'll be OK.

Sitting by your bed, holding your hand was my favorite place to be.
Letting you go was the hardest thing for me.

You're an amazing Dad, Husband, and Grandpa, one of the very best.
who's forever loved; and very much missed.
But you'll never be forgotten I promise you this.

Grandpa, if tears could build a stairway and memories a lane.
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Cause god saw you were getting tired, and a cure wasn't meant to be. So he put his arms around you and said come to me.
Your golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us he only took the best!

One day we will meet again but for now I'm sitting here looking at the stars.
Missing you Grandpa, wishing you weren't so far.
