High School Years

by Courtney   Aug 9, 2008

It seems not long ago
That I ran down halls
Trying to make it to class
Without slamming into walls

A year has passed
Since the days of high school
When I would walk the campus
Thinking I was so cool

The ringing of a bell
Has become a distant sound
The signal of commotion
When many a feet would pound

Friends passing friends
The feeling of security
Telling school gossip
Of such impurity

A teacher stands before me
Another that watched me grow
Helping mold me
Into the young woman I know

No more sports
Gone are those days
No more afternoon drama
Or evening school plays

Only pictures as evidence
Of the days of yesteryear
Where innocence shined
And there was little to no fear

Here in college
On a campus once more
Different people and events
But hopefully many more memories in store
