The past may still remain the future

by Jenn   Aug 9, 2008

So here we are together,
You've got me alone at last.
Tell me what I want to hear,
About your ending past.

We've gotten to know each other greatly,
Knowing every detail about the other.
When you look at me, it's hard to see
Why I should even bother.

You tell me over and over,
but I think I need to hear it again,
That the past is staying in the past,
And that the relationship had really reached an end.

You told me all about those ex girlfriends,
and how they meant nothing to you.
But Here I'm standing in front of you,
Just waiting for the truth.

Every Time our relationship gets rocky,
Or when there's an end in sight,
She seems to call you up so innocent,
When the timing seems just right.

You hang up on me to talk to her,
You say you'll call me right back.
You tell me she always reminds you
Of the feelings you're supposed to lack.

So look me in the eyes,
And tell it to my heart,
that you guys are really over,
and that she won't win back your heart.

I love you with everything I am,
I know you know it's true,
So tell me what I want to hear,
and say that I'm the only one for you.
