Gone

"She'll always be with you"
is what i was told
but as i looked at her body
laying lifeless and cold

i thought to myself,
"well how can that be?
if she cannot speak,
and she cannot see?"

she cannot laugh
and she cannot smile
I knew she was fading
she had been for awhile

i hated you all
for lying to me
for saying that always
with me she would be

because she is not here
she is nowhere to be found
except six feet under
down deep in the ground

there lay her body,
in a casket of wood
I'd give my life for hers
if only i could

i want to know what she thought
just moments before
her soul floated up
and she was no more

you say she'll be with me always,
but i don't see her around?
how can I hear,
what does not make a sound?
