Man in the Middle

by Darkfire   Jun 4, 2004

I left a mess on the counter

Colored pencils and paper

Pictures made a collage

They weren't supposed to be seen

Pictures of bloody battles

Dead warriors lay in heaps

Pictures of love gone awry

Lonely couples lay there and cry

Pictures of wounds made deep

Through the openings blood does seep

So many pictures of pain and despair

But there in the middle

One man did stay

Nailed to wood in the shape of a cross

The crucifixion it's called

Where that man hung there dead

The people who saw these pictures

Cared not of the rest

But only for the one, better than the rest

The pictures stayed as they were

The man in the middle

And the pain and sorrow around
