Before the Dawn

by alys victoria   Aug 16, 2008

I've been waiting for you,
waiting to take my hand
we've been broken by love
we've been killed by heartbreak
refusing to see that life really happened.

lets go back
back to the time when we were young
& nothing else mattered to us
than the rising sun.

i still remember the snow
upon my shoulders when we thought we wouldn't grow older
the fantasy in which we lived
hoping to stay longer

let's go back
back to the time when we were young
& nothing else mattered to us
than the setting sun

our heaven was the rain
our angels were the lights
as we would laugh before the dead of night
come into the street & play with the moon

let's go back
back to the time when were young
& nothing else mattered to us
but the dying sun

& before the dawn
we'll escape & play
only for the moment that we are alive
let the sun set on our smiles
allow the moon to take us in
fall back into reality with our sins
& we'll run away
so far away
where we'll be lost before the dawn

let's go back,
back to the time when we were young
& nothing else mattered to us
but the eternal sun.
