Final Goodbye

by Romancing the Darker Side   Aug 24, 2008

As I watch you wave goodbye
For the first and final time,
I stare longingly away...
You too shall fade with time.

One more crimson excuse,
One more internal battle.
You walk down the driveway...
Damn that old, gravel driveway.

The last ray of hope fades,
As the rain begins to pour.
I press my hand to the glass...
Ice cold, like your heart.

But the mist can't bother me now,
I've been submerged for so long.
I remember days of simplicity...
I'd curl up with the hood on my sweater.

And I'd drift away into the rain,
I found a place worth dying for.
Now the rain comes down...
And I know to never leave the light on again.
