Selfish Love

by CareBear   Sep 2, 2008

You tried to hide behind a million lies
So carefully placed together, you believed
I'd never find out all your stupid games,
Boy how could you do this to me?

The deceit you thought I overlooked
Makes me sneer in distaste as you
Try to keep me coming back for more
But I've learnt how to play your games

And little did you know, I learnt to play them too.
Years left behind, You're making up for lost time
Hurting everyone that comes across your path
Don't you have a conscious anymore?

Best friends, turned lovers, now enemies
In this web, you so intricately intertwined,
Don't think I didn't notice this going straight
Downhill, towards a disasterous ending

I'll wait tonight, I'll hold my tongue
Waiting for that perfect moment, in which
To tear you down, piece by piece
Slowly and painfully, the way you tore me

You will never see this coming but it's always been
Since the beginning of time, they knew
You'd meet me and I'd meet you
And we'd end up this way, fighting for a chance

No sympathy now boy, you brought this all
Upon yourself with all your lies and skillful
malice. Oh right, you never meant it to hurt,
You're sorry, aren't you, but only for tonight

So you can hold me close to you and not feel
Alone in this black world you created out of
Fear of getting emotionally attached to those
You do not trust, but remember there is

Nothing without trust, no hope, no love,
Nothing more than emptyness and finding
Yourself so bitterly alone, and in the end
I'll see you laying broken and abused

And I'll know someone got to you and broke
Through all these layers you built around your
heart, but for now, I'm done waiting for your love
When you'll never give it to anyone but yourself.
