Hats off to you!

by Searching for Guidance   Sep 3, 2008

Sometimes after a long day I want to hang my head.
All I want is to cover up and hide snug in my bed.
Enclosed in my cocoon I'd be safe and warm.
Certainly out of the reach of harm.

But rather I force myself to look inside my soul.
Then I can clearly see my ultimate goal.
Long hours of practice, feeling defeated,
Will surely be worth it once I'm greeted,

By the head Laker's cheereleader saying, "you made the squad."
Now to some of you this goal may sound odd.
But all I've ever wanted was to be the best.
Just to feel one step above the rest.

Now I have realized that was not right.
I would be throwing myself into an endless fight.
So instead of stepping on all the rest,
I come on here and do my best.

With each one of your help I find "the little train that could."
Everyday you all help me to feel really good.
So I tip my hat to each one of you,
For truly helping me go through,

Attempted rapes, eating disorders, and tireless pain.
From this all I've been able to gain,
A sense of the strength inside of me.
Now my goal is for the world to see.

So even if I'm not on top,
That will never make me stop,
Believing in myself, believing in me,
Knowing I can be everything I ever wanted to be.

Truly thank you for everyone who has read/rated/commented on my poems. You are each angels in my life. :)
