A Gentle Caring Stranger (Story and Poem)

by NeverSayForever   Sep 4, 2008

The last time I heard his voice it was a distressed, muffled scream.
They pulled him to the top of the stairs and tied me up in the hallway, facing him
Tears stung my eyes as I watched the drag his fragile body carelessly, as if he were a ragdoll
I wriggled and kicked, trying to break free but without success
I let out a hopeless cry from under my gag, hoping someone would hear me, but knowing they couldnt
The last time I saw his face it was bruised and bleeding, a look of anguish haunting his handsome expression
His eyes staring right at me, almost hurting mine with his piercing gaze
I am frozen and helpless and fearing the worst as I hear one of them laugh
"Look at her face!" he turned to me pinching my cheek as if I was a baby
"Cant help your lover now, can you?" he cackled, punching him in the stomach and making him buckle and splutter
They pulled him down the stairs so roughly it made him whimper.
I heard the door slam shut and I sat there in the darkness, listening as their voices faded away into silence.
I didnt dare move, so I let myself drift off into a deep, submissive sleep.
I awoke abruptly at the sound of the front door being forced open by a large impact.
"Police! Stay where you are!"
I didnt have much choice about that but I desperately called out.
In response to that a loud pounding sounded on the stairs.
It was still dark, but I could make out the police officer was male by his stronger build.
He searched round hurriedly for light, which he found. It was so bright it burnt my eyes.
Looking round in shock at the mess they left our house in, the officer untied me.
I fell forward into his arms, sobbing into his shoulder, pouring my heart out to a gentle caring stranger.
