Wide, Wild World: A Double Abecedarian

by Jessica   Sep 6, 2008

Always stay one step above life's material buzz.

Binding is a life that is caught in the fray.

Caustic words yield problems which no one can fix.

Deny those who live to bite and claw.

Ever more pathetic are vacant bodies slumped around the TV,

For how little of human life is spent on me or you?

God, perched in Heaven, sits in solitude and whist.

How could we have come to this?

Is life worth nothing but a dime or a dollar?

Just look at all the empty minds devoid of any useful I.Q.

Kindness is shelved, left to cool in the disconsolate cup.

Life, now a commiserable pile of ash, is swept away as we are too.

Men who once were deep in love can no longer be seen.

Naivety spreads like poison to the brain, which traps and chokes and begs for calm.

Oh, no. This cant be it. This cant be all.

Pour real life onto the world; melt away the mask.

Quickly, too willingly, we surrender and jump off the edj. (edge)

Really, though, just who are you and I?

Shells of a former world; unimpressive and awash.

Trees, are we, stretched toward the sky for fear of dying.

Untie the strings that hold us fast and stiff.

Vanity is now all one can see.

Wide, wild world is now solemn, grey, and cold.

Xs mark the eyes of those tired from havoc.

Yes, perhaps this is it. This is all we are. Sponges who cant absorb.

Zealous puppets who move when told and know not their dilemma.
