Condemned Wood (Rhymed Double Etheree)

by Mr. Darcy   Sep 15, 2008

Condemned wood

Life
Breathes from
Acorn seeds,
Saplings transformed
To majestic trees.
Trunk turns branch, teeming leaves,
Hear Ye Forest's song on breeze.
.......Beneath vast, ancient canopies,
Thrive nature's wondered complexities.
A settlement of splendour..... guaranteed.

Suddenly, beauty is brought to its knees.
Proud Oak cries - Timber! Splintering dreams,
With chains of death, man wipes this scene.
Concrete pours on evergreen;
Sap screams - Rape! Ruined trees,
Black Woods smouldering
From man's disease.
Coppice breath,
Choked to
Death.
