My White Flag of Surrender

by rosalina calling   Sep 18, 2008

I give up.
I won't fight.
I won't argue.
I won't say a word
Against it.
The strength is gone from me
And I can't keep lying
To everyone.
To myself.
I knew deep down
That I was fighting a losing battle
From the very beginning.
That I was already a lost cause.
But did I know any better?
I pretended not to.
I pretended so that I
Could go on being oblivious.
It would've made things
So much easier.
Or so I thought.
And now that I've lost,
I feel somewhat
Relieved.
And my white flag of surrender
Waves high
For everyone to see.
