Ashes

Once I knew a girl,
with a fire in her eyes and love in her heart,
but the world was out to get her,
and didn't stop until it got her.

She had a love inside,
it even had a name,
but one day her lover went away,
leaving her alone once again,
dousing her fire in grief.

So she turned away,
tried to make it go away,
with nasty words and suicide thoughts.

Drag a knife across her skin,
watch her bleed.
