Alone

by TaKe Me As I Am   Sep 20, 2008

She wandered through the streets
Afraid of what she'd find
If she faced the world alone
Just her body and her mind

With each and every step
She let her mind run free
Letting go of all her troubles
Allowing herself to just be

She forgot about the man
Who walked out of her life
And ignored that he once told her
She would forever be his wife

She forgot about her family
Who abandoned her years ago
And how they were just strangers
People she'd never know

Instead she found herself
With a smile on her face
Knowing that she had her soul
The one thing she could never replace

The man who left her hanging
Without a simple goodbye
Could be replaced by another
Who would never make her cry

If her family didn't want her
She wouldn't shed a tear
She had true friends who have been there
Through each passing year

As she wandered through the streets alone
She was pleased with what she found
She was finally content with who she was
Feet firmly on the ground
