Not Welcome

by CareBear   Sep 20, 2008

Who are you, standing here
In front of me, staring in expectation
I remember seeing your face before
But I can't recall where

Your smile so familiar
And your arms look just right
Searching through the memories
To find one that fits tonight

You wait in anticipation, hoping it'll come
But I've erased all memories
That started to hold me back.
It's been months now, could it be years?

Yet you expect so much from me,
But while you were out searching
I learnt exactly how to move on
From the pain you caused me

So, here we are now, standing, staring,
Hoping to remember something we had
Something left to hold onto
But I don't know you anymore

And the truth is, i never really did.
You chose to show me, only what you
Wanted me to see, I tried so hard for so long
To keep holding on to the feelings I felt

But slowly they started to fade
As you walked away into her arms.
Now you're back, wishing you had stayed.
You're not mine and you're not welcome anymore

Who are you? I don't remember your face,
Why are you here now?
And what do you want?
It's too late to remember, it's too late to go back
