Chances Lost

by Scarlet Angel   Sep 24, 2008

Sitting on the bridge
Watching sunset on the water
Listening to crickets call
Water laps against my legs
Your hand slips into mine
Caressing my frozen fingers...
We watch the moon rise
Sharing this beautiful moment
And then my eyes open...
I see the patterns on my ceiling
The ones we searched like clouds
During happier times
And I cry
For chances lost...

Standing in the rain
Watching headlights fade into the distance
Listening to the silence of an ending
Rain pours down my body
Your words fill my mind
"I love you" and "Goodbye"
Not knowing this was it
We shared a kiss
And the pain comes back
The pain of losing you
To a sharp turn and frosted glass
On a rainy day....
And I cry
For chances lost...

Kneeling in the dirt
Watching leaves pile on the ground
Listening to the wind whistle through the trees...
Dirt cakes my fingertips as i slide them through the mud
Memories of you fill my heart
Every moment, every kiss
Remembering the simplicity of love
I treasure every thought
And then reality comes back
The fact that your not here
To have and to hold
For eternity
And I cry
For chances lost...

And every time I hear your name my heart breaks!!!
Every time I imagine your voice my own catches in my throat
Every time I see your smile, in picture or memory, my eyes begin to tear
For you are gone... forever
Lost to the unknown realms of death
And I cry
Oh yes, I always cry
For chances lost....
