Pearl

by reJoyce   Sep 28, 2008

She has skin of pearl and a face with the soft glow of an angel.
She pulls back her hair, exposing herself to the light.
A dull surface, smooth and adorable
The most kissable cheeks and eyes of desire,
That see all of me and draw me in close,
Sending a shiver through my body with every look of passion and awareness.
She knows me and I know her.
I love her.
My best friend
Maybe she loves me too.
And she can rest her head safely on the pillow of my heart.
I will hold her and be her protector.
For we have grown together in this sea of life and change.
And I will guard her like an oyster guards his pearl,
That once was dust,
Until polished over time to produce the most beautiful one-of-a-kind possession,
That doesn't even know.
