Lost

by Emily   Oct 4, 2008

I, like a filthy pig,
Wallow in the mud of my sin,
The filthy, putrid pig,
being as I have always been.
Light draws my empty eyes,
A longing stirs my dark, cold heart,
A tear falls from my eyes,
From my dark sin I strive to part.
I strive to no avail,
Despair! I am forever lost!
Striving to no avail...
I in my sin and sorrow tossed,
I am lost... forever lost.

He comes; A wind so weet,
Oh! He is so holy, so pure!
His compassion is so sweet,
In His pure eyes my heart finds cure,
He loves me? It cannot be!
Like a flood joy whelms my being,
I am loved? How can it be?
Can this be what I am seeing?
He with His bright, red, blood,
Saves me from my sin and cleans me,
I am pure by His blood,
Now forever His will I be,
He paid the cost,
I am no longer lost.
