Life Step

by Eric Janssen   Oct 7, 2008

With every step that I have taken
I've had my doubts I;d be mistaken
Searching for something I might never find
Never reaching for what is behind
Chances taken are my devotion
That will certainly demand not only emotion
For now I stand alone at will
Looking at two valleys from atop life's hill
Two choices and I must decide
However the unchosen ceasing to abide
Two valleys are equally taunting
To a spirit that is tastefully flaunting
My eyes float from side to side
Overlooking the great divide
To the world it may seem so clear
The future that is generally near
Left, an unknown journey, possibly viable quest
Right, a trip to the aboard the S.S. Life Test
Uncertainty tears at my senses
Effortlessly destroying all known fences
Alas, the wise and skillful choice
Spoken from the unknown voice
Remain upon the peak atop
And walk beyond fear and never cease to stop
I have my doubts I'll be mistaken
With every step that will soon be taken
