Society's Myths

by Searching for Guidance   Oct 9, 2008

Laugh all you want, snicker and sneer
What do I really care?
For what you say is true I know,
I'm the freak show at the fair.

Dressed in a costume big and bright,
I know I look a mess.
But have you ever needed money so bad,
You had to get more for less?

You drive in your mercedes bens and think of just yourself.
The strippers at the clubs you just sit and stare.
The prostitutes a mess you think,
Seeing one upon the street, you narrow your eyes and glare.

But I ask you what life is like for the other side?
You don't know, mostly because you live in luxury
If you were forced to live in the ghetto
You'd respect those women like me.

Sometimes you need to make more out of less.
Sometimes that's all you can do.
The nights are hard and never fun,
But you just need to make it through.

You've family at home ,there are mouths to feed,
You can't return home empty-handed.
For if you did your family would go hungry
And surely end up stranded.

So next time you see a homeless man sitting upon a road,
Think about more than the three course meal that awaits you at your house.
Think about this lonely man with no job,
How he eats no more than a mouse.

I'm not saying feed him, or give him money
But please at least show mercy
Don't glare and mock, have respect,
Ask him if he's thirsty.

Look past yourself, into his eyes
Find how you can assist.
If you do such things while on this earth
Your presence will be missed.
