Five Seconds

by Hopelessly Devoted to You   Oct 11, 2008

Sometimes on many nights like this, I sit here with my heart torn in two, from not seeing you. And I don't know how to say this but if I could tell you, from the bottom of my heart, I would say that:

Without you I'm missing a part,
a piece of my own heart,
that longs to see your smile again,
and I wish I didn't have to pretend,
to be happy and fake a smile,
knowing I won't hear your voice for quite a while.

But if I had one wish,
it would be this,
to be with you for at least five seconds,
it would be just enough I reckon,
to hold you in my arms,
and feel perfectly unharmed.

It will be the shortest time with you ever,
but it's better than seeing you never,
and it would be the best five seconds of my life,
where for a moment my heart feels just right,
and when that five seconds ends,
it will go back to normal site,
a broken record that barley plays in discreet,
saying five more seconds is what I need.
