Protecting My Heart

A love that is invincible,
Impossible to break with a bond this close.
Our hearts are intertwined with a passion so deep,
A longing I had always needed in my life I now have.
I've always trusted you,
Even through all of my endless thoughts.
A fear had taken over me,
The fear of completely trusting the one I'm in love with.
Feelings have taken over,
Locking me into feeling helpless.
An unstoppable love that I had been too scared,
To let take complete control over the depths of my heart.
The more I've allowed this love to take control,
The more helpless I've felt.
I've been too stubborn to let my guard down,
With endless thoughts in the back of my mind.
With a voice saying,
"Don't let your guard down.
It will allow her to have the full ability to shatter your heart.
Tear you down then just sit there and watch you suffer.
Watch me with tears streaming down my face,"
Leaving me to ask, "Why me?"
"Why did I let my guard down?"
Slowly this barrier has been coming down.
The more I realize you truly do love me,
I stronger I become.
You are the one who completes me,
No one could ever take your place.
My heart has a spot,
Especially made just for you, forever.
I have learned that love conquers all.
Even the situations that seem impossible,
So for forever I will hold on,
And never let go of this love,
As long as you're willing to hold on as well,
and to always love me.
