Isaiah's Warning

by Emily   Oct 24, 2008

For a moment may your heart melt with fear,
For He comes.
Forget the things, the idols you hold so dear,
For He comes.

Brother agains brother, Friend opposing friend,
The result of arrogance and foolish counsel,
You who on worthless and empty wealth depend,
Proud foolishness! When will your confusion end?

The earth itself will rise to war against you,
You who are so small, will you be arrogant then?
When the punishment comes for the things you do,
Will you humble yourself and your life renew?

Open your dark eyes and see that you are weak!
All that you have built are castles in the sand,
Open your eyes and see that your fate is so bleak!
Turn from your sin and after Christ you must seek.

For the Almighty's purpose is one of love,
This punishment is not to crush but to heal,
In truth a great act of kindness from above.

So accept the correction,
Heed the warning,
Save yourself from destruction,
Wake to morning.

(This was inspired by the book of Isaiah in God's Word)
