My Release (Joe)

Release.

in a matter of days,
i feel different, happy almost
he talks to me on the phone,
he tells me i am beautiful,
and i believe him

in a matter of hours,
i feel my cheeks blush,
i smile, and look him in the eye,
and then the words came..
"i love you" he said

in a matter of minutes,
my whole world changes,
life is suspended,
breathing stops,
hearts cease to beat

in a matter of seconds,
my life is turned upside down,
all my emotions fail to be,
my body go's numb,
i stare blankly at him... wondering why.

i am slapped back into the present
by the sound of the engines of the cars,
they really have shown up,
here take him away...
and in that final look he gives me..... i realize,
he'll never change,

....not even for me.
