Free Bird

by HollyWoods   Oct 28, 2008

Not doing as I am told,
I'm only as free as a caged bird.
Locked up behind cold metal bars,
I wail and whimper.
Pleaing for help out of my dark lonely hell,
Others still neglect me.
Yelling at the top of my lungs,
No one is hearing my isolated words.
Ready for death itself,
I sit and wait for my time to come.
I've been waiting for what seems like eternity,
But my end hasn't come yet.
A dim light appears,
And I hear the free birds sing.
My barred metal door swings open,
And i see the rain fall into the night.
I walk out the door of my hell,
And suddenly i can feel life again.
The wet cool rain beating softly on my skin.
Soft wind whisping through my hair.
And for the first time, in a long time,
I smile...
Because now i'm only as free as a free bird.
