You'll lose your daughter

by katie   Oct 29, 2008

I need you to love me
for the person I need to be.

You can't tell me my feelings
and that I don't know anything.

Let me cry on your shoulder
as you should as a mother.

You don't know how to
do you?

You tell me not to cry
sometimes I do try.

But that's so hard to do so
with all that I know.

I've been through it all with you.
I've tried my best to please you.

But nothing works
and only I get hurt.

Don't you have feelings of your own?
Ones that you've never shown?

A mother shouldn't be so mean
to not let her daughter have dreams.

To tell her that she won't make it
that she should just give up now and quit.

One day I'll prove you wrong
and I'll be long gone.

You'll lose me
not that you can see.

You'll lose your daughter
but maybe gain part of your heart.
