An Open Book Unwanted; Please Let Me Look Away

by BrokenREALiTy   Oct 31, 2008

I've worn these dreams down through boulevards of fading tracks,
the light hollow of your inch-high sneakers promising me good-byes.
Soft lyrics from that hideous song you always listen to
haunt me with the most beautiful words I've ever come to read...
but the warmth of your affection has fused within
the many boxes crushed beneath the comfort of my bed.
And my fingers, now tangled in these sheets instead of in your sleeve
are cold as they soak themselves with bad caffeine.
So I'm running off with likely victories, because your amity just
isn't good enough for me; and as I stream a river across your teeth
I slur my words on purpose--both hoping that you won't notice
but all the same you'd finally get these watery dreams...
You held my frosted hands but your eyes looked the other way,
dancing different stories through your lips that I didn't ever want to see.
