I Long

by ImperfectBliss   Nov 2, 2008

I long to reach deep into my own skin

And pull out this aching thorn lodged deep in to my chest

Crystal blood quaking from the gap in the wall

I long to break down this wall

And overcome the limitations in my life

Savor the sweetly tart taste of freedom

I long to spread these black wings of mine

And fly in to the sparkling night sky

The wind whispering through the tendrils of my hair

I long to lie back on the emerald field above the creek

And whisper to the wild stars circling above

Gaze in to the night and forget all of this world

I long to hold in my arms the warm body of her

And kiss the black streams of her hair

Feel her soft, glowing skin under my hand

I long to walk upon the clouds up there

And look down at the expanse of the world

Shifting forever beneath me, while I stand still in place...

Have you ever longed for something

That you can never have?
