Butterfly

by Andrea   Nov 3, 2008

In life we have to face truths, whether we want to or not.
These truths may bring joy or pain,
But in essence, they are all the same,
Since our innate natures seek only our good fortunes.
In that way, we are the most selfish creatures.

You see, as much as we will future occurrences,
They are far beyond our control.
Each person is responsible for the life of their soul,
And whether we allow fellow beings to degrade that Treasure, is entirely based on our inner strength.

Striving for ultimate contentment is challenging and tedious.
Along the journey we collect plants and stones,
And occasionally fracture brittle bones.
But why are we so weak and pitiful?
"Take loads of calcium" is what the doctor suggests.

Only upon breaking the crystal casing will you be free.
Take all your grief and disappointment
And bury them under public pavement.
Uncaring folks will trample them into nothingness
And you, dear friend, will be a new-sprung butterfly!
