Dark & Light

by PHOEBIX   Nov 4, 2008

Empty lives
Like broken glass
Scattered motes
Swept and tossed

Deepened wounds
Family ties
Damage done
By closest kin

Hollow faces
Darkened hearts
Can anything
Fill their loss

Where is love
In broken homes
Where is hope
For child's eyes

In darkness dwells
Once bright futures
Youngling games
Of deadly lure

Guns and knives
They heft and wield
Sharpened words
Flung like steel

Where lies light
When all is dark
Where dwells good
When all is wrong

Up is down
And down is up
They see the world
Through dirty cup

Glass and concrete
Iron walls
So few can hear
Their desperate calls

Barriers raised
By parental sin
Children suffer
For having been

From so much lack
Of heaven's light
They fear the glow
When love arrives

Be not afraid
Dear ones of night
Be at peace
With heaven's light

You are the chosen
More than most
The downtrodden
From Earth's crust

Rise up, sweetlings
Enjoy the day
It is yours, too
Come what may

Dark or light
Sinner and saint
All are invited
To the holy gate

Feelings of rejection
Drop like chains
Heavy souls
Can soar again

All are angels
Dark or light
All are welcome
To the holy gate

Forgiveness reigns
Be not afraid
Color is naught
But perception's will

Blue, black, purple
Green, red, pink
Orange and yellow
Sepia tones

All are invited
All are welcome
Equal opportunity
For every stage

Find healing here
Dear broken ones
Love is available
For everyone

Internal badness
Not of your making
Ill deeds caused
By association

Love washes clean
Love holds you close
Anger drives you away
Which will you choose

Hold not your sins
Such things of fear
Let drop the bindings
Be free and clear

Soar high once more
Beyond the pain
On angel wings
Of rainbow hues

So here I sing
My song of hope
Arms spread wide
For all who dream

Come black, come white
Come green and blue
Come red and yellow
Love waits for you
