A Warning and Wild

by Armada the Gestalt   Nov 7, 2008

From ten to twenty times I have watched you as you sleep,
It may sound wrong, and really it's as awkward as it seems,
But before you think that I'm a sentimental creep,
Your sentinel of dark is here to nurture your weak dreams.

Tormenting you in your waking hours,
No remorse as it devours,
Every ounce of your resistance,
Everything in your existence.

Twenty, thirty times I must have whiled away the night,
Seeing as you chased your fragile dreams back to their lairs,
I'm here always to hold you, I'm here always to fight,
I'll always stay to guard you when you drown in your nightmares.

I wonder what a man could find,
If he could sit within your mind,
Are you even such a different kind
To them?
(But not to me.)

I forgot how many times that I have sat here by your side,
Just like you did to me when we only young,
Your sleep shows all the reasons why the hope within you died,
Tells me everything about the venom on your tongue.

You and I we share a kin,
We're both so hollow, deep within,
Though I was born to be a shell,
But something led you to your hell.

Your nightmares echo in this deadened, empty soul,
A resonance within that I cannot control,
Of course this pain I do not bother to contain,
Though I almost like to think that I could make you whole.
