I haven't forgotten

by mimzy   Nov 17, 2008

You broke down my walls
I poured out my soul
Trusting you to treat it gently
Faith that you would always break my fall

My hopes turned out to be out of reach
Your open arms would crush my secrets
As soon as they started pouring
Your understanding eyes would shut
As soon as I started to trust
And I know I could have prevented this

Worth only fighting for
For as long as it takes for you to own me
Worth only leaning on
For as long as it takes to feed my ego
But at the end of the day
To you I am nothing but an empty vase

Restored my faith, so you could have the pleasure of breaking it
But I refuse to be an object for your amusement
And your eyes keep searching my face for tears
Trust me, darling, you will not find any

Because even though you've broken through my walls
And even though you've come way too close
I have not forgotten how to shut people out.
