To My Successor

by Lyrical Heart   Nov 19, 2008

You think I haven't heard it all before?
The hatred within the words doesn't sting,
Not the way you want it to.
Do you know what it feels like to be the one left in the cold?

I was promised forever.
The promise that you got to have.
She adores you and I'm miles away.

I won't go die, my darling.
Because I am a survivor.
I didn't die then, I'm not going to die over her.
I'm not going to lay down and die in your glory.
How the world adores you, the friends and the family.
I brought what she is to light, you are an innocent... In their eyes.

I'm a free spirit, I will step on some toes.
Pull on a pair of big girl knickers and deal with it.
We are still friends, I will be there always.
In the back of the mind, the memories thrive.
So suck it up and feel the sting.
I go on to benefit myself,
I'm not going die for the girl who got MY happy ending.
