Preparation not Desperation

by Beautifully Disfigured   Nov 23, 2008

Preparation
Prepare your life
Prepare yourself
Open your eyes to the world
Prepare it for unspoken words
Unspoken actions
And listen.
There are many things you may experience
But are you ready?
Can you stand to bear the pain?
Can you stand tall when it all goes wrong?
Do you know what the rain really feels like?
Are you ready?
To feel the love put into this world?
To be wrapped in the arms of someone you love?
To smell the scent radiating from their skin?
Are you ready?
Is your mind prepared?
To receive the best of life?
Prepare yourself.
The world’s wonders are about to explode and surround you.

This absolutely followed topic. I would have to say it seems more of a speech than a poem. I think it's the way it flows and it lacks a bit of emotion. The ending is good. And, the meaning is great. But, it's something you would hear a valedictorian say to her/his class. I guess you put it in poem format and that makes it a poem. It is one, it's that simple. But, it lacks emotion.
