My Air

by Liz   Nov 30, 2008

Once long ago, I was empty,
Empty of life, air, and love.

Full of fake smiles,
Plastic smiles,
Real to everyone but myself.

But you came, then.
I tried to push you away,
Not wanting to be wounded again,
But you resisted.

You breathed life into my barren lungs.
You pushed love into my sunken heart.
You are my love, my life.

You are my air,
The one thing no being can exist without.

My air.
