Our Distance

by Emma B   Dec 2, 2008

This is for my marine, he's in Iraq until June!

Your touch filled my veins with warm, flowing lust;
My mind grew darker til my thoughts were just us.
And you said, as we laid, bathed in blue t.v. light,
"I'll never let go" and you held me so tight.

It's hard to believe that these memories are real,
The absence of your touch is now all I can feel.
There are times when I'm filled with a panicky dread,
Afraid that your memory may fade from my head.

My mind is an ocean with an ebb and a flow,
There are times when I'm drowning, about to let go.
But I remember your heart-beat against my ear,
it's the lifesaver I grab that will steer me clear.

I hope you understand that despite our distance,
my heart holds onto these feelings with insistence.
My marine keep your head up! Survival is a must!
Who else will fill my veins with that warm, flowing lust?

    Good write. The flow was nice and I liked the rhyme pattern.
