A fragile heart & fading memories

by silent turbulence   Dec 12, 2008

She sat in that corner,
With a little box held tightly in her hand,
Scared as she was of losing it,
It still kept on slipping away like sand.

Carefully she opened her box,
Looking at the beautiful memories inside,
Everything in there was equally special,
She wished for a place where they could hide.

She looked at them lovingly,
Cherishing them,
Tears filled her eyes,
Yet, her lips curled into a smile.

Quietly she brushed the tear away,
And the smile began to fade,
It was time to put that box away,
She shut her eyes and silently prayed.

With all hopes growing fainter,
She let go of the past,
It wasn't worth the pain she felt,
Probably, it wasn't meant to last.
