Why can't we embrace the truth?

by grace   Dec 17, 2008

Why can't we embrace the truth?

Lying to ourselves won't bring you back,
And it won't make the pain runaway.
Strength, unfortunately, is what we lack,
Or else we would say those words we cannot bear to say.

Everyone you met, you touched their heart,
Brightened their day and enlightened their soul.
Now they're bringing casseroles trying to do their part,
Hoping it will fill the bottomless hole.

The hole you left will never heal.
The casseroles don't help, although the gesture is sweet.
A life without you is too surreal,
So we comfort our minds with a blanket of deceit.

Why can't we embrace the truth?

Many of us can relate in some way to this pice, I think you have done an excellent job here, a good sad write and a question that has many answers finishes it off, good job!
