I Hope There's Days

by Jolene   Dec 18, 2008

I hope there's days when you're missing me
It's been so long since you've seen my smile
All the laughter is just a memory
Lost between all the time and trials

All our joy has become water under the bridge
Along with it, is our love
Swept away to make room for other emotions
And never to be spoken of

What once was a clear diamond glass
Has been shattered and crushed
The shards reflect the beautiful past
And the future has been hushed.

We cannot run forever
Even the forest must draw thin
The light of the clearing is our captor
Yet we'll attempt a war that we'll never win.

A thousand mirrors show your face
But only you can see the clown
In twisted variations that you can't escape
You're hiding from yourself but are always found.

The boat that was taking us to shore
Could not with stand the waves
And my life was separated from yours
Yet you couldn't bring yourself to be brave

Why we gave up the life of happiness
Is something that I do not know
Our rope grew thin with the heaviness
And I gave up holding on after you let go.
