You hugged me so long
As you said goodbye
Your kiss on my neck
Brought tears to my eye

We walked to my car
Through the tunnel with feet
Down the stone stairs
Through the trees on the street

We got to my car
You said your goodbyes
A hurried embrace
So brief in my eyes

We drove through this town
Neither yours nor mine
You told me your stories
I told you mine

We drove to your house
You asked me to stay
I followed you up
I followed your sway

We went in alone
You showed me your room
I stood on your balcony
The world was in bloom

You gave me your hat
As you said goodbye
And to think of you
When your light filled my eye
