Butterflies

by meganmarie   Dec 23, 2008

Butterflies flitting around inside
beating their wings as fast as her heart
kiss her again
they'll fly even faster
maybe one will even escape

butterflies dancing to the sound of your heart
while she listens to the beat
warm fire glistens
snuggled up close together
those butterflies dance once again

the butterflies stop for a moment all together
she closes her eyes and waits
i love you is whispered
butterflies fly the fastest
when you leave,
she thinks one escaped.

;;for nick, i love you;;

    I love the ending.. how it says that one butterfly escaped? Feels that way sometimes, doesn't it :) I loved your poem to the fullest. Great job.
