Is Life Too Short?

by xLeftxBehindx   Dec 28, 2008

Everyone says life is too short to waste
So why take away your time, do everything in a haste
But if you do that, you don't know the meaning of life
Your throwing away even more time, ending it with a knife

One moment you are 15 and bright
The next your 92, sick, and your gray with hair so white
No one really believes life is short
Seriously 100 years to live! Your out of sorts!

But when you do get to that 100 year mark
And death is right around the corner looking so dark
You stop and think about your past
How it went by so quick with everything of your first and last

You won't believe me now when I say life is short
'Cause now your young, playing games and making a fort
But when you get old and gray you'll think twice
About thinking life is long because it comes with a price

Leaving early than requested is not fair
You leave now, what happens to the people that care?
So don't end it early, you only have one life to spare
Your so lucky to have a life and to breathe air

But just because you have a life doesn't mean you can waste it
Leave it to God to guide your way for a bit
Walk a little slower and enjoy the day
Every time there is something different to display

Everyone says life is too short
You won't believe me until you get gray and need support
Don't waste the life you have or live it too little
Live your life one day at a time because it's very brittle

That was very good, however, I may be missing your point, but you seem to be contradicting yourself:
“About thinking life is long because it comes with a price”
    Then you put:
“Don't waste the life you have or live it too little
Live your life one day at a time because it's very brittle”
As I quoted in the first sentence; if you think life is long then don’t you enjoy it? But then, as I quoted in the second sentence; if you think life is long, and then “live your life one day at a time” than it’s the same thing you’ve said before? And when you’re “playing games” and est. aren’t you enjoying your life then too? But the confusing part is that you’re talking about ending your life early, and I could not understand how that fit into the rest.
I understand most of your point, and I know when I write stories I have so many good ideas that I end up writing a whole bunch of things that are swell, but end up making not a whole lot of sense. Write what you feel, but try planning out what exactly it is that you want to write about. It’s especially important when sharing your poetry with others.
