To Be Clever In Love

by Courtney   Dec 29, 2008

I loved the sight of your smile
The luminosity of your eyes
The sparkle deep within
My entangled lies

The thorn on my rose
So beautiful to see
So perfect at point
In which you stabbed me

So much blood ran
And yet I kept on
And clung to you
Til the breaking of dawn

My scars still visible
I still hold you in my hand
I can't seem to let go
Yet you fall through my fingers like sand

No evidence or remembrance
That you were ever here
That what we had was real
Except for a lingering tear

Dancing with gray skies
With rain falling all around
With no end in sight
But the hurting I found

Such a fatal move
Too feeble an endeavor
To learn what love is
By a person not too clever
