Take it back

by InvisibleHourglass   Jan 1, 2009

Just because i didn't speak of my sadness
doesn't mean i didn't feel it.
You speak to me like i'm a child,
and haven't yet learned how to live this life.

As though I cannot begin to understand the place you're in
even though i've been there myself.
I never told you what happened
I never told you of my summer drowned in tears

I spoke not of the breathless sobs i couldn't control
And not of the secrets the ones who loved me kept
to protect and ended up harming

Not of the people around me
who aren't as well as they pretend
Not even of the thoughts i think everyday.

So never say i don't feel enough
Never say i don't know what i'm saying
And never treat me like you're above me
because you're not.

Not a very great poem. It's rather cliche' to those who might not know you. To me, it just kind of makes me feel bad.
